Different people will have different opinions on what the role of a fairy tale is and how they influence children, so this is mine. Fairy tales have the role of teaching kids that life doesn’t always go as planned and how to deal with it when it doesn’t. Although fairy tales can have a negative effect by telling kids that things always end up good when really they might not. At least that’s how the new ones end, but there are some older ones that tell the truth, although sometimes it can be dark. Those are the ones kids should be reading or having read to.
